3in1 DIY Dirt

Image result for 3in1 guitar pedal

Brewing up ideas of two 3in1 effect pedal boxes. I made a prototype version, but the enclosure is limited and shorts from time to time. I bought some proper enclosures for better execution. The idea is that every board has a 2-3 stage dirt, yet there are some many variations. The 3in1 will be wired to easily interchange and switch out the pcb's and down the line can be mixed and matched at one's hearts desire. The first stage is an always on low gain, and when stomped it will go to a tuner.

Reading Music

After some googling, I will try to get a hold of a few books for reading music.

  1. Howard Roberts Sight Reading Manual For Guitar, which was the text at MI for many years.
  2. Sight To Sound by Leon White.
  3. M.I.'s Music Reading for the Guitar
  4. William Leavitt Modern Method for guitar Vol I, II, III and  Melodic Rhythms
  5. Real Book

Snippet from Harmony Central.

In my opinion it takes a good book, and some other things to supplement it.

Unfortunately the most effective book I've ever known is now orphaned, and out of print. That would be Howard Roberts Sight Reading Manual For Guitar, which was the text at MI for many years.

Now I would suggest Sight To Sound by Leon White. Couple this with Leavitt's Melodic Rhythms, and you'll have most of what you need.

Next get a spiral bound notebook of staff paper. Every time you encounter a difficult rhythm, write it down. And write down what ever applicable subdivisions
apply. Meaning that a 1/4 note rhythm should be written as 1/2 notes as well (if possible) and 8th and 16ths as well. Practice these rhythms each night slowly with a metronome BEFORE working through the books. After going through the books, be sure to read through the Real Book or some other music. Also, you should read unfamiliar music everyday.

Low Impedance Input

Related image
Great link about buffers and input impedance.

With my pedal board I setup an input unit that has an input buffer/booster with a tuner output.
The input signal always goes through the booster, then the stomp either directs the signal to the rest of the board or to the tuner.

The booster is an AMZ mosfet booster with high input impedance and moderately low output impedance..

More Links and Pedals.

Trying to keep up with info on the internet is an endless task.
Here is another to tuck away for later reference.

Also trying to keep up on pedal accumulation.

BB Preamp for 5750 JPY plus 510 shipping. Fixer-upper with busted knobs.

MXR Blue Box for 2150 JPY Plus 300 shipping

And an array of tuners. I am trying to decide on a tuner for my pedal board and it seems it will end up being the Ibanez LU20

BOSS TU-70.

First Zoom R8 recording - Cherub Rock

Here is the first recording using the Zoom R8 MultiTrack RecorderCherub Rock in a studio jam. I used the onboard distortion and did not try the footswitch input, so the intro is full on distortion.

Picked up the unit on Yahoo! Auction for 12,000 JPY plus 800 jpy shipping. It came with all the included items with original box, cubase cd and the sd card.
